Pushing the Limits - Katie McGarry I completely LOVED this book!So this story of Noah and Echo. Both misfits, both outcast, both let down by the people they trusted the most.Echo was a popular girl, part of the dance team and with a jock boyfriend. Until a night that changed everything. She wakes up, with no recall of that night, but she have brutal scars in her arms. The worst thing? They say that her mother did that to her.She now is part of the other spectrum of high school, she is not considered a "freak" to the rest of them. Even one of her best friends doesn't acknowledge her presence in public, only friends in the shadow.Noah is seen by the outside world, as a stoner and an womanizer. The thing is he is in a foster home, passed through several after his parents died in an accident. He was screwed by the system and he just hope someday he can get back together with is brothers. They both keep secrets, they both are afraid to feels and to let someone in. They both have scars on the outside and inside. And they connect like they never had before. His gaze shifted to my covered arms." You didn't do that, did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked. My entire world collapsed around me as I answered, "Yes." She craves normal but she can't get away from him.And Noah can't get her of his mind. " We'd read about sirens in English this fall; Greek mythology bullshit about women so beautiful, their voices so enchanting, that men did anything for them. Turned out that mythology crap was real because every time I saw her, I lost my mind. " What to say about this story?I LOVE Noah and Echo, both are just terrific characters. And above all it seems real, it felt real. Every tear, every heartache, every smile, every laugh.... And it's a complex story. Echo was hurt beyond belief. And we go with her in her journey to uncover the truth and in her journey to discover herself. Not what her father wants her to do, not how her mother think she is but especially of what she wants to do. So it's also focus on loss, grieve, family and second chances.Noah struggle was a thing to behold. He also goes through many transformations, especially realizing what he can accomplish, and that sometimes doing the right thing may still break his heart. The relationship between his brothers made me cried and made me smile, and it just shows, how faith can be cruel but also that we can find goodness and hope in others. This book is just a truly beauty. And it sure is an emotional roller coaster that's for sure, and you'll LOVE every part of the ride. 5 BIG AND SHINY STARS
