Saving June

Saving June - Hannah Harrington " My sister is dead and I'm still being measured up against her ghost. I'm not even surprised. So why does it still hurts?Harper’s older sister has always been the perfect daughter, the perfect student, the perfect girl. So when June takes her own life and doesn't even left a note, no one, and especially Harper understand it. There was no signs, no clues, just the uncertainty of what could she have done to save her. She is devastated but she can't cry, she can't show the emptiness that she is feeling. When her parents decide to split June's ashes , Harper decides she must take her sister, to the place she always dreamed of going- California. Even if it means go behind her parents back and drive cross-country with her best friend. Then a guy, Jake, that seems to be connected with her sister, propose to go with them. And so it starts the trip that will change their lives...I actually loved the 3 main characters, Harper, Jake and Laney. They all seemed real and actually easily to relate with. And i loved how music was so important to the story. " And that's what good music does. It speaks to you.It changes you. (...) What I'm trying to say is, it's just nice, I guess, knowing that someone else can put into words what i feel. That there are people who have been through things worse than i have, and they came out on the other side okay. Not only that, but they made some kind of twisted, fucked-up sense of the completely senseless. They made it mean something. These songs tell me I'm not alone. If you look at it that way,music...music can see you through anything." I couldn't agree more with this quote.Anyway, i loved how they all grown and learn with this experience...and how to see outside the box, to say what you're feeling,to go and do it instead of watching...even if it means to go to a mosh pit, to punch a guy in the face, to go to a protest, to kiss the guy you love... just LIVE. "There is so much beauty in just existing. In being alive. I don't want to miss a second." *egalley kindly provided by Harlequin Limited via Netgalley in exchange of a honest review
